Default What is a "Work Truck"

I've been pricing some Silverado's using NADA's internet site and they have an option that includes "work truck" under the Mileage and Options section of the form.

What exactly is a work truck? How does it differ from a regular truck? Does having a vinyl floor make it a work truck, or are there other differences that need to be there also?

It makes a BIG difference in the price show for any given model, but nobody advertises a "Work Truck" as such.
Thanks, Jon

Default RE: What is a "Work Truck"

I thought this was a good question, one many would want to know..
Here is what Chevy says;-------------------------->
The 2006 Silverado 1500 Regular Cab returns for 2007 rebadged as the Silverado Classic 1500 Regular Cab. Several options are available XM Satellite Radio, and OnStar Communications system.
What differs the WT Classic from the LS/LT Silverado is in the extras. You can Option UP on many items except mirrors where as with the Silverado LS/LT Silverado, you CANNOT option Down to save money.
Besides the 312 HP Iron Only 5.3 Engine. You get a Hell of a deal for about $6k - $8k less. You can replace most of the stuff you might want from wrecked trucks and save a ton of cash. You can also add same Billet, light and all aftermarket items as any other Silverado. The only item that may matter is the lack of rear Disc Brakes, a $600 aftermarket conversion upgrade from just about anybody, hehe..
1.) Grill - No Chrome -> Black surround with Black center bar
2.) Bumpers - Black front and chrome rear step up
3.) Mirrors - foldaway, Black ONLY -NO HEAT - NO TURN SIGNAL - NO OPTION UP AT ALL
4.) No side moulding
5.) No Heated Wiper Wash System
6.) Brakes - front disc/rear drum with four-wheel ABS and Dynamic Rear Proportioning - You cannot get 4 wheel disc brakes on WT models
7.) Largest Motor, 5.3l Iron Block
8.) No Trailering package Yet Exceeds Hitch weight of either LT/LS Silverado, except HD models
9.) No Switchable 4x4 mode - floor-mounted shifter only - OLD SCHOOL
10.) No Side impact air bags
11.) No Climate (temperature) control
12.) Console - no Center console
13.) Manual, non heated rearview mirror
14.) No Safety Package which includes power-adjustable pedals, head-curtain side-impact air bags and Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist
15.) No Power Widows - $200 AFTERMARKET UPGRADE, hehe
16.) Front Seats - Vinyl or cloth 40/20/40 split only NON reclining
17.) 315hp 5.3l is Iron Block in WT model, aluminum block not available
18.) WT Max Trailer weight EXCEEDS LT/LS non HD models
It is a basic truck in both 2WD and 4WD with FULL REAR SEAT AND WINDOWS, but No Doors. Seats Fold forward. Who Gvs A Sht
It's a great deal for a guy who wants the same HP but wants to save a ton of cash. Warranty is 5yr/100,000 mile -
Good question, hope this helps
