What do you guys think of retread tires? Here is a web site i am looking at new tires from. The 285 70 r17 mud tires are only $90 a piece which is not bad. Just wanted to get some in put from you guys. Thanks

I have a bunch of friends who omly buy retreads. They also go threw tires very fast. I personally would not buy them, unless you are only going to be using the tire part-time. If you are gonna go only mudding in the retreaded shoes, you'll probably be fine. but i wouldn't drive on them daily. Just my opinion.. Hope this helped.

 

I agree with GEARHDRT. If only used part-time while mudding, no big deal. I certainly would NOT use them for regular duty highway travel whatsoever. At worst case, I would put two of them on the rear and hope the best. Putting them on the fronts is just asking for vibration.

I worked at a tire shop about 10 years ago now, and re-treads were always the WORST to balance - always needed far more weights (5-6oz not uncommon)to do the balance. That's another thing about cheap tires in general- they often don't balance up as well as the more expensive ones. Exceptions to every rule of course, just a general trend.

It's always nice to balance up a good tire and rim and only need 0.25 oz. weight on it.
