I have a 95 dodge dakota when its idling and have hood open i can hear air building up then it stops then check engine light comes on does any one know what that is? thanks

 

Could be an idle air control valve, that's the device that controls fuel-injected vehicles like your 95 dodge dakota to regulate the idle speed of your engine. It's controlled by the engine's computer, it's a bit complicated so can consult this for more info, hope it helps. In any case, i'd have a trusted mechanic do the work to be sure. Good luck.

 

Before anything, I would go down to autozone and have them pull the codes for you. This will help point you in the right direction.
