Is it possible to put 4.7L engine into 4cyl 97 dakota? If so, do I have to change the rear axle? Can I put any transmission on it or is there specific kind only because the truck was originally 5spd.</P>

they should fit...they frames are the same.</P>

you may need new mounting brakets...a new wire harness, new PCM</P>


as for the tranny, It doesnt matter between auto or manual...just bolt patterns realy. I wouldnt think the two have the same patterns...but if you find a junked 4.7 just grab the tranny too.</P>

man your looking at some serious work and cash involved, why are you looking at this swap. just want an 8 or looking for power.

if it was power you were looking for why not dump the money into a turbo setup
