im going to buy a dakota...

its a 2000 ex-cab, the guy selling it said it was a 318. is that a 4.7 or 5.2?
because he said it was a 5.2 and confused the **** out of me.

is there any way to tell the difference between the 2??

If it is in fact a 318, it would be a 5.2

Generally, the way to check is to assume approximately 62 ci's in a liter

when i go to make the down payment tomorrow is there anything i could look for to tell what motor is really in it??

The aging 5.2 L Magnum V8 was replaced by a new high-tech 4.7 L SOHC PowerTech V8 in 2000

So the guy you are buying it from is confused.
