what code checker r u usin? usually they come with a manuel?

thanks for responding. i'm as greeen as it gets. i can change my oil ,but thats it. i hold down the odometer trip button turn the key to on but do not turn over the engine. the dash lights up and spits out the codes. they are manufacture codes not dtc. i had a good tip how to do it but they don't know the codes. i checked the brain for codes but the battery was recently disconnected which would erase the codes.
