Default 1977 Ford F-250 questions

New to this sight. Thought I'd ask a couple questions.
1. Having a 1977 f-250 truck with a long 8' bed, 3/4 ton, how much weight can I safely carry? 3/4 ton? (another words, what does 3/4 ton mean?). And with 2 tanks, which is main and auxillary?
Thanks for any info.
