1990 F250, 5.8L, 4x4, auto.
Ignition system stuck in start mode, past spring-loaded key position even with key cylinder removed. When battery is connected, starter engages/turns engine/won't disengage, stereo comes on.
Tried tapping solenoid in case of stuck contacts - no change.

Sounds like there might be a short in the wiring harness or maybe this truck is Christine's great comeback performance.

 

Try unplugging the harness from ignition switch under dash on steering collom then hook up battery and see what happens.
