Default 2004 F-350 6.0L 29,000 miles issue

about a year ago I bought a 2004 F-350 that had 19,000 miles on it and in the mean time I have put a addtional 10,000 miles on it.

This past December here in S.E South Dakota we revceived 23inches of fresh fluffy snow that I thought I would play in. Drove into a empty parking lot (I have just driven 60 miles from Sioux Falls to my home driving 80mph on highway) and got stuck. I put truck into 4x4 mode and started rocking back and forth. All of a sudden I had a complete loss of power but somehow managed to get free and out of parking lot. Once out I noticed that I could depress gas pedal to floor and only have idle speed. I noticed when I was in parking lot that there was a horrible acrid diesel smell that inundated truck and lasted for two weeks. Once on street I had to idle home because I had absolutely no power when depressing pedal to floor. Once I idled home (a mile away) I shut truck off and came back next morning and started truck and it ran fine. Still had horrible smell in it though even with windows rolled all the way down. Ideas? Thoughts? Did I potentially do something major wrong to this truck?

I use this stock truck to pull a 10,000lb trailer 130 to 300 miles on a weekly basis in the summer driving 65 to 75 mph on interstate too. Need advice!!
