My father-in-law is having a problem with this F250. It seems to be over revving and not shifting at the appropriate times. When it does shift it's a really hard shift and has quite a noise or knock associated with it. My father-in-law is quite a 'traditional' mechanic so it's unlikely a transmission or engine issue as he'd have already caught that. It might be a computer issue or something like that but I'm at a loss and looking for any suggestions.

those transmissions arent really computer controlled. sounds like the tranny is junk

 

check the fluid levels.
