Default Dana 60 Rear axle interchange.

I have a 1971 F250 Camper Special Explorer, 390, C6, factory air, disk brakes, Dana 60 open rear 3.73. My friend gave me a 3.54 Dana 60 Limited Slip that was in his 1974 Dodge 3/4, destroyed in a wreck. The Dana 60 Limited slip started life in a late 60's International. My freind Dave took it from the International, and set it up in the Dodge during the 1970's. He used the orginal housing from the Dodge. The Dodge housing will not fit my Ford. I want to obtain an additional Dana 60 Ford housing so that I can set up the limited slip WITHOUT having to disturb the 3.73 Dana 60 that is currently in the truck. The 3.73 can then be stored servicable as a back up. Do I have to have a rear axle from a 67-72 F250, or can I use one from a 73-79? I was told the wheel bases are different.

Thanks so much.
