Default F-250 gas odor after start up

Hello. I noticed recently that my 2003 F-250 (gasoline 5.4L engine) would smell strongly of gasoline from under the hood at start up, only at start up but not every time. The first time I smelled the gas (about a month ago) it had been running, no smell at initial start up and then after I stopped and restarted was when I smelled it. I had to drive it last week and when I initially started it the gas smell was there. I made a stop and shut it off just to check and when I restarted there was no gas smell.
Since it is a fuel injected system I did not think that this would happen. No, I do not step on the gas pedal at start up. The truck only has about 65k miles. I don't know if it is relevant but recently it sat idling for a long period of time. I am the original owner and it gets oil changes on schedule and hasn't been driven much for about the last 15 months, only when necessary which is probably about a hundred miles every three weeks (at one shot). If this is normal and I just never noticed I apologize for wasting your time. Should I be worried? Any advise or thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

We have the same problem with one of the Greens mowers at the golf course...

But honestly, I have no idea. Welcome to the forum though!!
