the lights stay on when its running or when you turn the key on. If its when the key on thats normal. But when the wait to start goes out start it thats the preheat for the glow plugs. A nother thing the clicking is the glow plug relay try not to leave the key on all the time because it can over heat the relay and plugs.
You have a 7.3l direct injection. If its hard starting it may be the relay, glow plugs, fuel filter, or the batterys.
If the water in fuel, there is a yellow *** on the filter just move it and twist the top out so it will drain the fuel out that should remove the water. Good idea to change the filter in the fall and then again in spring.

right when you turn the ignition on all the lights come on and the light saying wait to start so i wait, then you turn the key to start and nothing happens just the 3 lights switch on, and there is no clicking of the starter motor from the soliniode even if it had a low bat the solinoid should click and no starter action so i havent been able to start it, does the water in the filter housing get to the stage where it will stop the starter motor from turning over?

for the filter drain plug could you point me in the direection on it please, as i really need a step ladder and only used to working on old petrols ford capris i find are a lot easyer to work on

im just worried that i may do sommet i shouldent i.e. break sommet

thanks

oh its a 1995 model if that makes any difference

if those lights are on it should still turn over. Check the pasenger side battery I call it the primary. The positive side and see if its corroded or white looking, if so try soaking the battery conection in a solution of baking soda and water. If you have to replace sodier a new connection on. If thats not the problem see if the headlights are bright if so, have someone turn the key to start and go to the starter relay on the pasenger side fender and you should have power on both big connection that will tell you there is power to the starter, if so go under the vehicle and try to tap the starter a hammer will someone has the key in start position.

At the filter when you look at it straight down to the left of it there is a yellow **** I can't remeber on and off so look at it if its too the left move it to the front it only moves 1/4 turn if its straight towards the front move it to the left. Just remeber to put it back where you started from. If the fuel bowl has dirt in it try to clean it out with a rag. You do not have to prime it when your done and everything is sealed just start it up.

the battery on the left<
