Default rear antilock light is on ('90 Ranger)

I bought a '90 Ford Ranger this week. The rear antilock brake light is on. The previous owner told me he just had new rotors and pads put on this truck the day before I bought it. He said the reason the light is on is due to a bad sensor. According to him, the sensor has dirt on it and he didn't feel like cleaning it off.

Is he lying?

Shame on that dude, appartently he doesn't realize you own weapons and know how to use them! Cool seeing a woman that hunts and likes trucks on here. Usually just a bunch of kids bickering and beating their chest here, well i'm sure you'll hold your own. It would be easier though to own a chevy and conform, but that's no fun lol! Go back and tell him to clean them off, like it will make a difference. Are you on archerytalk also?

Id ask him for some paper work. He should have a recipe if he just had them done and there should be a warranty on the parts.

My 1991 ranger's rear antilock light has been on for a couple years, ive been to a mechanic and asked him about it and he said it was a glitch with these trucks. My buddy has the same truck and his does it too.
how do you check the sensor?

1990 ranger does not have antilock sensors on the front so replaceing pads and rotors would not make the antilock light come on this vehicle ithas 1 sensor located in the rear diff the most likely cause is the rabs valve sticking which is a problem with rangers

I guess u shud ask him for the proof of the work he had got done on his truck and also about the crap that he is talking regarding the dirt getting settled on the sensor and making the lights on. Probably u shud even ask him to take you to that guy who had done the work on the truck and make him fix the problem. C'mon, no1 in the world will settle for smoething that has no warranty coverage. Just give it to him...
