I am new to the forum. I just purchased a 1996 Sierra 1/2 ton with the Vortec engine. I have noticed that when I come to a full stop the trans doesn't automatically go back into first gear. If I shift down to first manually then start driving, I can bring the shifter back to drive and it upshifts through the gears fine. I am wondering if this is just an inconvenience or is it going to turn into something devastating down the road?

 

There is something wrong with your automated transmission for sure.. You should get it checked before you get stuck on the road...
