Default 2000 Tahoe 4WD-ABS Brake Problem

Hello to ALL!
I'm a Newby with a question.

I have found a problem with the wifes grocery getter. Low Speed ABS Brake activation.

She took it to the dealer, as I gruffed under my breath, and they gave her a suggestion to have all four corners replaced, for only $1,200!!!

I took the wheels off and it doesn't appear that the fronts are worn more than 10-15%. No unusual wear on the discs, or rotors in the back.

I googled the issue, and I'm finding that this is a common issue, that includes an investigation by the NTSB. I don't want to wait for a recall, as it is not only annoying, but is really a safety concern.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Other than taking it to the Dealer, what success have you had?

My wife works with someone that has a truck of the same make and he went to mechanic friend. He suggested that he disconnect the ABS sensor for the front. He did, and (Duh?!) the problem went away...of course he no longer has ABS![>:]

All ideas will be considered, except the latter I just mentioned.
