iam new here and i got a question my 1979 chevy elcamino has a rebuilt 350 and my problem is my timing is extreamly off it seems the chrome timing cover is wrong for the moter. it runs good but i cant time it. the cover is for 283-400 but iam not sure if it works with my 8 inch dampner and is it possible to replace it with a 6 inch dampner

on a 79,I'd just play with the timing...advance it until it "pings",then begin backing it off from there
