Ok so my 2008 chevy avalanche just blew its trans line and in doing so the trans is severely damaged. That said I'm looking into a new transmission but I figured my engine is starting to have problems too and it's around 210k so I was wondering how much a used cummins or duramax would run me with the trans I don't need labor prices my mechanic has me covered. Even if it's not a diesel I will take other options for a swap considering this was my first SUV/truck and I do not want to pet with it thank you in advance.

 

Throwing a Duramax in there would require a complete powertrain rebuild and would be very expensive.

Honestly, assuming youve got a 5.3 or 6.0, I wouldn't worry about your engine. Transmissions die, but these engines are known to go many more miles than the truck itself
