I know a lot of people like diesel trucks, but why? What is the top 5 advantages over a gasser?

 

Oh,LOTS of advatages.

They cost about 9k more new
You lose about another 9k when trading in an "old" diesel
Oil changes are 65 bucks or more
A fuel filter damned near monthly is 50 bucks
they rattle so loud,you have to yell for your corn dog at Sonic
they stink
They are a bitch to work on
Diesel often costs more than gas
They get worse miliage than a small block v-8(newer ones do!)



Thats my take..but why do people buy em?...2 reasons!

They do pull well...for the .01% that actually need em to pull heavy stuff..

And..The #1 reason....They think they are COOL!..gotta keep up with the Billy-Bobs in the world!

Thats what I thought as well. I went to a dealer to kick some tires and he was pushing a diesel like crazy. I told him if I tow once or twice a year thats a lot. I also noticed no differance in diesel fuel prices. As far as it living a longer life I just don't think I could keep a truck as long as 300,000 miles. I always thought a diesel would be great for heavy and long hauls but as a daily driver I think not...
