Hi, I have a 1998 silverado 1500 5.7 vortec 4-wheel drive. Was wondering what year transmission will work without to many headaches. I've heard a couple of different stories. Some say 1988-1998 will work, and some say 1996 to 2002 will work. I do have a 1993 silverado transmission, what will work on it and what won't work on the swap out if possible.

 

I believe the wiring harness is difforant on the 96-present trucks.
