Default 1990 chevy 1500 seat belts and exwife

hey, my exwife is claiming my truck is not safe to transport our children in because the seatbelts dont lock up. Its a 1990 extended cab with 4 shoulders and 2 lap belts in the middle of both bench seats. do you all know a way to check them? besides slamming on the brakes? They are shoulder retractable ones. They don't lock up when you jerk on them like a lot do. I am pretty sure they are designed to only lock up during a violent stop or collision. Its prob going to come up in court. sigh...

ok thanks!

Oh the joys of divorce. They'll do anything to stick a fork in you every chance they get. I would contact GM public relations. They would probably be glad to help - it's their job. And look up safety statistics and I'll bet your truck is safer than whatever she's driving, too. 6000 pounds is about the best proactive life insurance you can get. Good luck.

Take it to the dealer and have them check it. If the dealer says they are OK show that to the court or judge if necessary.
