Default 1995 Silverado w/ 4.3 and 700r4

I have a 1995 Silverado with a 4.3 liter and 700r4 trans.....vehicle has 400,000 miles and only problem is the shift sensors....thinking about rebuilt trans or upgrading it.

So........

What transmission can I upgrade to with or without adapter....TH350 / TH400 / etc....

Any info appreciated.

Why in the world would you change from a 700r4/4L60e???? Its a good trans, just don't overheat it. A TH350 has no overdrive, and neither does a TH400 but the TH400 actually soaks up about 20 more hp as well. Fix or rebuild the 4spd. The 4.3 doesn't have enough grunt to hurt it and with gas going for $5 a gallon you need that 4th gear. Lastly, the 4spd trans has a deeper 1st gear so "upgrading" to an old 3spd will actually help slow down your acceleration. RT

I have to agree, plus if it is just the sensors/solenoids drop the pan and replace them. Either way keep that transmission even if it needs a rebuild.
