2008 Chevrolet Silverado Exhaust Question
Hey everyone. I just purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Vortec Max. Looking for insight on possibly putting an aftermarket exhaust. I am not looking for anything to crazy. Just a deep sound that I know this 6.0 wants to give me

I personally like the sound of Magnaflow
The closer you install it to the engine the louder and snappeir it will sound.
Mount it behind the cab/ closer to the rear of the truck = thrush _ throaty sound

What kind of pipe configuration do you recommend? Single in single out, single in dual out? If you bring the tips straight out the back compared to turning them at an angle out the back, does that influence the sound?

I've never had the opportunity try a true dual exhaust but I've had excellent luck with single in with dual out.
I have tried straight out the back for a couple of seasons but changed to out the sides cause I live in northern Ontario.
I found it continually plugged with snow when I backed into parking spots (hitting snow banks)
After changing to side exhaust I didn't find any significant change in the sound.

Very good. Thank you for your expertise. I actually called and got a quote from a local guy and it was surprisingly low for Magnaflow muffler and dual tips out the back. He quoted me 250 cash for all the hangers, extra pipe, muffler and tips. I was expecting more than that!

I've put dual pipes coming out in front of the rear wheels and with the windows down it is like listening to a stereo...much nicer than when they come out the back.
That said, if you take your truck offroad much, like I do, I suggest a single 3 inch because they tend to be more stable when bouncing around, especially if you have headers. My truck has headers, no cat, and a 3 inch flowmaster to the tail; it sounds great!
