I have a 2000 silverado 4x4 the 4.8 is tired and I would like to swap in a 5.3 or a 5.7. How hard will this be? Will i need to swap the computers, wiring harness? help

 

Going with a 5.3 would be easier. Just a simple motor swap. But if you want more power and have some extra money, try to find a LS1 with computer. But that is if you want the truck to go faster. If you want more towing power, either the 5.3 or 6.0.

 

Does anyone know if a 4.8L from a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 can be used in a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500? Are they compatible/interchangeable?

Its a Gen IV motor. The computer settings are different but mechanically the motor is about the same. So I say go for it.
