Default 87 chevy v20 headlight dimmer problem

The headlight dimmer is up on the steering wheel, where the wiper turn on and all that is at. I cant get the lights to dim. They will turn on but wont go between bright and deam. Wipers and all the other things work. What do I need to replace to get them to work again? Thanks.

Check your fuses. If its not that could be a wire.

I'm guessing that your'e talking about your high beams? If the front of your truck as two sets of headlights, Id say get an ohm meter and check the terminals on the back of the bulb to see if they work. If not, same thing applies to a dual filament bulb. Just make sure that your bulbs are good.

In my case, the terminals on the back of the bulb corroded away and my high beams don't work.

K maybe I need to be a little clearer after reading my poast again. The light work bright and dim. The handle that you use on the steering wheel to turn them to dim or bright depending on what you want isn't working. I doesnt make the clickin sound that it used to when u dimmed or brightened them. Is there a switch or something in the steering coulmn? Again thanks and sorry.

If your highbeam circuits are all in order, but the switch isn't making the click it's supposed to do, then you might need a multifunction switch. This would involve taking your steering column apart.
