1996 1500 z71, i just bought it and have had to change the starter, and brakes, which isnt too bad, but now the check engine light is coming on and it idles a lil funny especially first thing in the morning when its cold out, and it shifts hard sometimes, not all the time...

did a diagnostic and it said throttle postion sensor and EGR sensor, do ou guys think that is the cause for my problems??

 

could be TPS, I had similar problem in my 93' (pre-vortec though) as far as rough idle. New TPS and was ready to go. It was also cheap if I remember right. You can always take your truck to autozone and they will tellyou how to check it with a voltmeter before you buy anything (and it is free advice).
