I know there's no shortage of transfer case threads but I could not find one that fully matched my situation. 2005 Silverado 1500 Quadrasteer I developed the pump rub leak which I temporarily fixed with JB Weld, still holding, but now the truck has started slipping out of 2wd, no noise, just stops sending power to the rear wheels if I recycle the 4wd switch, 2wd will return temporarily but will slip out again usually when coasting downhill, the truck can be driven in 4auto. I replaced the dashboard switch but the problem is still there. any thoughts on what to look at next?

 

Well after some additional research I'm thinking shift forks and range collar are worn out from running low on fluid (pump rub leak). Its time to put down the laptop and pick up the wrenches. I expect I'll be posting some ugly pictures when I open up the transfer case.
