Default Checking error codes

I have a 95 sierra with the 350 5.7L
My question is am I able to check for codes by cycling the key x amount of times? or is there some other way? without using a code reader...

I searched and to no avail could I find somthing simillar to this.

Thanks in advance

You can read the codes by jumpering pins A and B on the data link connector under the dash on the drivers side. It may have a cover on it. You really have two choices 1- get a copy of the Chilton or Haynes manual for your year of truck and it has the codes in it. When the pins are jumpered the check engine light will flash and repeat itselt on a regular basis. 2-take it to a auto parts store as many will read the codes for you for free. Cycling the key on/off may simulate a start cycle (I don't really know) and that resets the code memory after 50 times, so that may not be a good ideal.

yea easiest way to go about it is go to most any auto parts store and they will read the codes for you. then you can either look them up their or you can get on the internet and find out what they are.
