on the 4.8 what would cause the eng code PO449 Evap Emission Vent Sol/Cont circuit to come on. Any ideas to fix this would be great.

Default 99 NBS Common issues

Here is what I have replaced...they all seem common amoungst chevy's:

Fuel Pressure Regulator (Hard starting been through a few of these)
Fuel Pump (Hard starting) around 110k
Transmission Rebuild (Sun Gear Shield wears and breaks around 180k)
Intake Manifold (I don't think this is common but I had antifreeze in my oil, the intake manifold was cracked, after replacing the truck has been holding coolant just fine)
Dash Cluster Stepper Motors around 110k
Door Handle (I jb welded it back on)
Tailgate (support wire breaks and therefore tailgate will fall to ground) around 80k
4x4 Switch (can be fixed by resoldering) around 110k
Hood latch lever (I reinforced with a home-made plate to fix)
Bass / trable / fade **** just desenegrated on me
And now my idler arm and pitman arm needs replacing around 190k (causes some good steering vibration around 45mph and the front tires wobble left and right)
U Joint (I replaced the front one near the transfer case) Causes a clunk when going from Park to Reverse, and also when putting in 4x4 and at slow speeds you can here a clinking
I'm going to check that filter under the passanger dash because my blower is weak on the first 2 settings...I'm thinking this will fix that.

I have a problem with my sons 95 GMC Pick up. Cruze dont work, Windshield wipers dont work and brake lights are on all the time until you step on brakes then they go out. All this started at same time. All fuses are good. It did this once before but fixed itself. Any help will be appreciated.

There was a recall for the windshield wiper motors on this year truck. Check with your nearest dealership for details. I'm the original owner of my '96 GMC and was sent a letter regarding this issue.

2000 Chevy Silverado, can't keep daytime running lights running for over a week, gas gauge has a mind of its own,and the tailgate will close once out of every 5 tries. Truck also bounces out of first gear, like a hard shift or something,a couple of my buddies have the same problem.

Default Mr_shamrock!!!!

What is the easiest way to get at the radio display lights? I cant see preset 3,6,am/fm, or the cd buttons. I don't want to rip the whole dash out if their is an easier way. I can do it blind folded for a fox body mustang, but not a clue on my 2000, silverado.
thanks in advance.

Radio Display Lights Burning Out

1999-2005 cluster (stepper motors) going out - if your guages are freaking out this is usually the cause

Low Pressure A/C Switch going bad

Cold Start Piston Slap in later Vortec's - does your truck sound like it's knocking in the morning or when it hasn't been started in a while? GM says don't worry about it. It won't hurt anything! WHAT!?!?!?!

Later Vortec's (4.8. 5.3 6.0 8.1) knock sensor code. They are under the upper intake and are prone to getting a puddle of water (from rain or engine cleaning - not coolant) down in the hole they sit in. A new knock sensor, a little RTV and a couple hours is all you need. It's usually just the rear one, but they are both under the intake so don't be cheap replace them both! You should replace the harness at the sme time...they are available from the dealer fairly cheap.

2004-2006 Blower motor resistors frying the wires. GM has an upgrade kit for this that has a new heavier guage harness. If your A/C doesn't blow this is usually the cause (I say usually b/c there is always the exception).

1988-Early 1999-taillight circuit boards corroding. If a bulb and or fuse replacement doesn't fix your lights check the circuit board inside your tailight.

I have more, but I gotta get some work done here!

Default same issue with 96 astro

my last vehicle was a 96 astro and I had the wiper issue as well. I just bought a new circuit board for $40 and it was all good. A guy i work with found the broken solder joint and re soldiered it.
