I assume the MAF descreen works on ANY truck that has a MAF. Any one do this to their late 90s truck? Im thinking about doing this to my 97 Suburban

anyone got a "how-to" on this? Orat least some first-hand feedback related to long term performance/probs. Got me interested now... (for an '02).
Justcan't justify dishing out the $250+ forthat Jet Power MAF!

So I did the MAF descreen...it took about 5 min to do.......so here is how on the pre 99 trucks

First remove the air cleaner cover and unclip the MAF and aircharge temp sensor

then unclamp both sides of the MAF and remove

it takes a T-27 torx bit to unbolt the 2 halfs

push the screen out with a screw driver or ratchet handle (mine came out in one piece)

bolt it back together (it only goes together one way) reinstall and you are done

maybe we can get this added to the other one for 99-up?!

Gahhhhhhhhhh TORX - another tool I gotta buy now

To add pix, the way I do it is to upload the pic to www.photobucket.com - if you aren't registered, go get registered. It's easy to get pix from your computer to photobucket. Then, once your pic is on their site, it will give you link information that looks something like this - EXCEPT YOURS WILL HAVE BRACKETS [] AROUND THE IMG PART (in order for you to see the entire link I had to remove the brackets at beginning and at end):

IMG]http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/nameofyourphoto.jpg[/IMG

Select and copy the link (I double-click it, then right-click, COPY).

Paste it into your forum post (right-click, PASTE), then you HAVE TO CHANGE THE CAPITAL IMGs to lower case imgs, like so:

img]http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/nameofyourphoto.jpg[/img

Then, it will display your photo. Buzz me if it doesn't take it... but it should
