engine swap

Default engine swap

Recently replaced my 1996 5.7L engine with 246000 miles on it with a 97 5.7 with 87000 on it do i need to change the computer also?

It would be good to keep the new ECU with the new engine. That way you don't need to flash the other ECU to introduce it to the new engine modules and censers

Honestly, while I agree with In2trux about keeping the computer, I don't think you'd need to necessarily swap it into the truck. All of the senors are the same between the two engines. As far as I know anyways ... a CPI 96-99 pickup engine should all be about the same as long as they're both 5.7 liters and both have the same connectors and wiring. I'd run with the stock wiring harness and computer. Years really shouldn't change much, if anything at all.

thanks for the help, at east I have them both just in case. Now just got to find whats sucking the battery dry.
