The seats turn on still but for only 5-20 seconds and then they shut down before they have a chance to warm up. Anyone know how to fix this?

 

Best case scenario - circuit breaker needs to be replaced

Worst case - the heaters need to be replaced

 

thanx Shamrock, looked in owners manuel and only found a fuse replacement for heated seats. The fuse was O.K. Where will I find the circuit breaker at? I don't think it is the heater because both seats turn off after about 15 seconds.

 

What kind of truck do you have?

Ok let me do some research on how those are wired and I will get back to you.

 

One of the elements probably has high resistance (burn spot). Seen it many times. Could be lower or back or both elements.

1. Disconnect the seat heater element connectors.
2. Using a DMM measure the resistance through the seat heater elements. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Are the measurements within the specified values?


1.5-5.5Ω

If not replace the inoperative heated seat element
