Does the 4.3 have a throttle body like the v8's???

 

no, it's different but the concept is the same. I am posting pics and skipping some step but I'll post a v6 how to as well.

I know this is ging to be a great mod because there is a weird bubble shield thing attached to the throttle body blade that was only allowing about 60 % flow. it will show up in the pics tonight. I will be posting in a few hours

He hardly took anything off of the throttle body.... I can't justify paying someone $150 for that. Why not put $150 towards a more worthy mod? I also can't justify spending however long in the sweltering heat to take off that little bit myself... There must have been a lot of dope smoking going on during this idea's creation and follow-through.....

 

check out the crap that was on the back of my throttle body and you will see that it made a huge difference! the pictures don't really do it justice either.

As far as the money goes, you are right there is no way I would pay for this to be done. I know that it has made my truck run like a hell of a lot better but it might not be for everyone.

I have been having some problems witha very harsh take off as soon as i hit the gas. I just noticed that in theirs, they left the little hole on the blade open and i closed mine, i wonder if that is what was making my throttle sticky? I'll check it and update.

 

Well I have the opportunity to buy a stock TB off the same year 5.3 for $40. I was thinking about trying this myself. What all will I need? DO you think filling the holes with metal filler is worth it? What if you don't have a dremel tool?

 

you definitly need a dremel. i looked at mine again and i did actually leave the hole open on the blade. i would say do this mod cause you have a replacement if anything goes wrong. I would not cut off the part that hold the blade in place if i could do it again tho. it is worth it but with out the proper tools you will be spending an enormous amount of time.
