new exhaust
just put on a flowtech afterburner muffler (by holley), with edelbrock shorty headers in front of it its got a nice tone, maybe a little bit louder then the flowmaster that was on. just figured i'd give my 2 cents if anyones thinking about new exhaust
How do the shorty headers compare to the stock exhaust manifolds? And did you do the headers and muffler at the same time? What flowmaster did you have on your truck? I got a summit baffled muffler on my truck that from what I can see is the exact same muffler as the flowtech afterburner muffler. You said it seems louder than the Flowmaster?
i already had the flowmaster on when i did the headers. from what i can tell the headers woke it up a bit and deffinatly made it throatier. the flowmaster was a 40 i belive, i got it from a friend used. i think the flowtech has a bit deeper tone, it has more of a muscle sound if you know what i mean.
Yeah I know what you mean... the muscle car sound. The only time I really hear mine though is when I first crank it and when I really get down into it. Just running down the road it is really kinda mello until here recently. It seems to me that it has gotten a bit louder. I thinkit is almost getting that time to replace it. I have had the Summit catback system on the truck since 2004... 75 thousand miles are on it and it is not a super weather resistant muffler. AnyhowI was just wondering which muffler if you could tell made a bigger improvement is all?
seems like my 40-60 acceleration is a bit better, went to the track tonite but it got rained out so i didnt get to run. it may run better though only because i got some leakes patched
If your gonna get a new muffler on your truck go get that fancy new Flowmaster 44 slapped on there and let us know how that sounds. That's supposed to be the loudest one Flowmaster currently offers.
I threw a gibson side swept exhaust on my truck and I had to park in a different spot. Everymorning when I left for workmy truck would set off my buddies alarm. I didnt think the neighbors were too fond of that. I like the Gibson; nice clean look, and great sound.
