Default no oil in pan

Started truck, oil light came on saying to add oil. Checked dipstick, no oil, added oil. Can't find any signs where the oil is going or leaking. Changed oil 1000 miles ago. When I start truck up a cloud of white smoke comes from tailpipe. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. 06 chevy avalanche.

if the smoke is blue thats oil burning

clouds of white smoke is coolant or trans fluid

but some engines eat oil but 1000 miles is a short time check underneath to make sure there are leaks too
