Default Oil life reset after Batt change?

I have a potentially stupid question.
I had to replace the battery in our 2001 2500HD. Does any one know if the oil life counter retain it memory or does it reset? I am of the mind that it remembers where it is at but I am not certain.
Any one know for certain?

Thanks in advance,
john

Resetting it is pretty simple. Turn the ignition key to "On", but don't start the engine. Depress the gas pedal 3 times in 5 seconds, and it resets.

I don't know if it holds memory when the battery is disconnected for a short time, but I would think it does, as all your other personal preference settings. Door locks, tire location (for the air pressure indicators), approach lighting, etc.
