old truck wont start :(

Check your fuel pressure. You said it ran on ether then quit. It could be the pump, maybe a pressure regulator too.

where is the pressure regulator?

if its a bad pump im going to forget it because its a part truck anyway

I knew you would ask that lol. It should be on the fuel rail where the line connects to the rail. Or, there should be a schraeder valve that you can connect a pressure tester to. I'm not all that familiar with the setup on the 4.8 or 5.3, I'm just going with prior placement.
