Default performance motor

No, I am not having any motor issues, just planning for the future. So, I want to plan on the right amount of money for the next motor I put in this truck and I need some input. The motor will need to be hgh output, good reliability, and last 100-200k miles or longer. Price is not a big problem as long as it is reasonable. I figure up to 5k. Now is it better to go a rebuild and a supercharger, or a RAT motor, or etc.? Any ideas on a dream motor?

well ill tell ya my dream motors would be a supercharged 383 stoker. or a beefed up HO 502. either one would keep ya 1/4 mile ahead of competition anyways those are my dream setups and they are under 5k to.

but 7k for a motor that is restricted seems a waste, the 502 seems a better way to go. I think the RAT is a 502 as well.

You're going to be STARTING at about $5,000 with those goals.

A supercharger by itself is about that much and so is a turbo, unless you go with the old STS style. That's not even including the transmission (an easy $3,000 - $4,000), a fuel system to support a super charger or similar, a built rear end (an easy $1,000) and suspension. If you go with a high performance engine, all of those other things are a must.

Your best bet may be to buy someone elses project.
