Default PROs and CONs of Performance Chips for Silverado

Ya'll bust in here and let me know your history with, opinions about, and facts about the performance chips out there for my 2007 Silverado, LT , 5.3L, Crew cab. I pull a bass boat once or twice a week and the gas mileage and torque are Ok, but can it be better?
I don't want to damage the management system of the truck but I have been in the electronics industry for over 25 years and know that trucks and cars are just now starting to get smarter internally, but have a long way to go be be high tech.

I have an 06 Silverado with a 5.3 with the hypertech programmer. Ive had the programmer on it since the fall of 06. I didnt really notice a ton of power gain. I mean, you can feel it, but its not like "h**y s**t!" power. Torque gain is about the same. You can change shift points, rev limiter, and tire size for speedo correction which is cool. The only thing Im not sure about, and I hope somebody smart chimes in here, is the effect of the "sport" tune on the emmisions systems. I recently had the drivers side cat come apart. I talked to a muffler guy and he said the motor must be running too rich and caused the cat issue. I tend to dissagree, but Im deffinately not a mechanic. I think the cat came apart because my truck is lowered, and the driers side exhaust tube has came into contact with the road on numerous times....

I have a Superchips Flash Pac programmer and it is good. I also had a hypertech programmer on my same truck and it was just the regular handheld which was a waste of mooney. Now my buddy swears by his Hypertech... it is also the Hypertech Max. From what I heard it is a real good programmer, but after this post everyone is going to tell you to get a true tune done. Which I intend to agree, but for me money is the problem and even though it is on my list to have done. It all depends on what you are looking for. I am happy with my Superchips handheld for what I do with it.

Found this thread only now (after last reply in 2011), but i think this information will be useful.
I have a 2005 Silverado 1500. From that time i`ve tried a bunch of programmers cuz i love off-roading, and for me it`s very important to change from time to time my tires. So, all of these Edge Products, PPE, Gorilla, SCT - ALL of these is suck, instead of ONE that i`m using still from 2012.
It`s Superchips Flashpaq F5. Damn, this boy is very accurate when it comes to calibrate the speedometer, when i change my tires.
I can`t describe all the features that this programmer have, but here the review of this boy: https://4wdlife.com/programmers-for-...-silverado-53l
