Default Removing Rear Emblem

I managed to get the "silverado" emblem off of the tailgate pretty easily but it left some of the double sided tape on the gate where the edges of the emblem were. How should I go about getting the rest of it off? There is not very much just a thin line of it on the top and bottom. I tried lighter fluid but it only worked a little. Could I use some 150 grit and wet sand it off?

I dont know how you took it off but if you use a hair dryer the emblems will come off very easily. If that is not the way you did it try taking a hair dryer to it. It basically heats up the adhesive and allows it to be pulled off no problem.

Do not use sandpaper especially 150 grit! The best way I have found is to use gasoline. If you get a rag and get the double sided tape residue saturated and then wait a few minutes and then rub it hard. It takes a little work, but it will come off and won't harm the paint. Of course you want to wash that area and put a little wax when your done. I have also used a popsickle stick with a rag wrapped around it to kind of scrape the the double sided tape down until it is just the adhesive.
In the future before you pull the emblem off heat it with a heat gun or blow dryer. Then take some fishing string and work it under the double sided tape. Saw the string back and forth as you pull it and it will remove the majority of the tape and you are just left with the adhesive. I have been removing motorcycle tank emblems like that for years. Good luck!

3M makes an eraser wheel that is the best thing ever! Its a good thing to have I use it on allot of things. I took off all the emblems off all my cars after I got it. That little wheel is awesome!!!

ive used fingernail polish remover to take stick stuff off my back glass. idk how well it would work on the paint though. i think it would be fine though.
