Default Shifting Issue

I have a 98 silverado 350 Vortec A/T. When I come to a stop the truck seems to not want to downshift. It's almost as if I'm fighting the truck to stop. Once the truck is stopped the truck will downshift into first very quickly. I notice it the most in the RPMs.

The truck also has been running less than stellar lately. The motor seems very bogged down as if it's flooded.

Any ideas for these two problems? Anyone's help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'll take a shot and suggest it might be your throttle position sensor isn't working correctly as one possibility. The PCM reads this sensor's signal to determine fuel management and also for gear selection in the tranny.

There may however be other possibilities with other sensors to consider as well.

You were right about the sensor. I replaced it and it does downshift properly when coming to a stop now. But now the gas pedal is very stiff when you go to press it down...is this normal or did I just screw up something else?

Recheck it, it should be the same as it was.
