Hey all - I don't think my '98 has EVER been cleaned. Check out the before and after. Took probably half a can of STP Throttle Body and Air Intake Cleaner, and a lot of scrubbing. I thought it would just spray off but I used a white washcloth to scrub it down and the towel is blackened from all the carbon and gum and crap that came off.

I highly recommend this to anyone, just for the heck of it - remove your air cleaner/intake and take a peek at your TBI. Clean it NOW before it's a filthy mess

O I'm just not that adventurous I took a drive after cleaning the TBI and replacing the rotor/cap/plug wires that were also in horrible shape and I'm REALLY surprised at the difference in throttle response and smooth acceleration. Can't recommend it enough, boyz and grrrrlz.

 

Good job though!!! And now save money at the pump with these gas prices!!

Update! Man, what a difference. Got a chance to take the truck out on the highway this weekend. Idle is smooth, acceleration is vastly improved, and highway cruise is steady. The few times I jumped on the throttle, I could really hear a more pronounced roar thru the clean intake.

If you haven't cleaned yours, I'm telling you it's WORTH IT
