Default TBI heads

hey all,

I have a 1989 GMC Sierra and its blowing grey smoke. I pulled the heads only to realize that the driverside head is cracked. I am gonna need to replace this as I highly doubt its fixable. I plan on going to the local wreckers to find a set of heads but my question is, will TBI heads from any TBI engine work on this 1989 Sierra?

That's a good question. You should post this in the silverado board and ask Argon. I'd say any 305 heads from that year would work but I don't really know. I do know I'd take them to a machine shop and have them inspected to make sure they'reokay first of all. Then if they are I'd have themboiled and milled before installing them. Milling them will help you get some compression back out of your worn out 89 motor.

any heads from a 305 from 88 to 95 will fit perfectly. you could get away with 350 heads from those years to. but on a old motor id go with 305 heads, wouldnt happen to be in the midwest would ya?
