Tierod ends worn out

Tierod ends worn out
I have a 2001 Silverado, extended cab, with 56K plus miles on it. I bought from an individual used. The inside tierod ends are worn out and must be replaced. There is no maintenance required on them by the owner because they are prepacked with grease from the factory. I have contacted Chevrolet Corp. and they will not assist me in replacing them because I bought used but not from a GM dealer, and I do not have my maintenance performed by a GM dealer. I believe the tierod ends wore out prematurely, and no amount of maintenance performed by a GM shop would have prevented them from wearing out. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?
Thanks,
Sharp
