Ok, well i have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 and this problem of the truck shutting off has been happening very rarely throughout the past few months. The truck shuts off when im idleing sometimes. I will be sitting at a stop sign, or stop light idleing, and all of a sudden it just shuts off.. Then i have to start the truck back up and continue.. Any ideas as to what is going on here? My warranty is up so im debating on whether to bring it to the shop or try and figure out the problem myself. Any help or ideas? Thanks.

 

Are you running the air or anything?

 

Hmm, no.. if anything it would be the heat because its winter weather here. But even when the heat is running its not full blast or anything.

 

no check engine lght?

does it tremble/shake first,or just ka-put?

re-start quickly?

only dies at idle?

- Check Engine light does not come on at all.
- It does not tremble or shake, just conks out "Ka-Put".
- It restarts quickly and fine like nothing happened.
- It only dies at idle and at very very slow speeds for example i was getting coffee the other mornin at a gas station, and was backing out of my parking space and and about half way out it just died on me.
- My favorite color is blue or black i suppose. Haha

 

try watching the tach...it should stay above 500 rpm pretty much all the time..if its dipping below that,it needs corrected...
