Hey guys, Im new here

I just bout a 01 Silverado 1500 4x4 its a reg cab short box with a 4.8 : ) It is my daily driver but i do want to do a little off roading and mudding in it. I already bought a diablosport predator for the truck and saw some improvements but it just isn't enough. I do know that cams give a lot of hp when tuned correctly. I have about a $2,000 budget and i was wondering if you guys could steer me in the right direction for the most power and torque, especially lower end too for when i go mudding, for the buck.

Also, while I am here, right now i have 285/75/16 bfg all terrains on there and they fit great, no rub at all. I'm intending on getting a 2-2.5 inch leveling kit so when i get new tires i will want something a little bigger. what can i get on there without rubbing.

I started out with an intake, then exhaust, gutted primary cat, then I had it tuned which made the biggest improvement but there aren't a lot of performance mods for my motor. Do you have an intake or exhaust yet? Might want to start there, then get the cam. Get that motor breathing a little easier.

 

I dont have an intake or an exhaust yet. I make $400 a month that i can put aside for my truck and i get an extra $600 next month from tax returns! So next month I am going to an exhaust shop and I am going to have a header back custom exhaust put it. I probably will have it turn down at an angle maybe right behind the back tire? or before? I haven't fully decided. If i have enough money left over I am going to get a levling kit. 2 or 2.5 inch.

I am going to get cams the month after that. I get summit racing magazine and i see that comp cams makes a GK kit with roller rockers but it is $879.00 and then most others cost about $300-400. I don't really know very much about trucks and especially not cams as I have never purchased them for any of my other vehicles. The high stall torque converter that you are talking about is to lower the power range correct? How much would one of those cost?

I wouldn't go with the turn down right before the rear tire. There is much debate out there about whether it will warp your wheel/tire and whether it's true or not... Why risk it??? I like what I did with the dual chrome tips coming out the back, but it's all personal preference.

Also, if anyone has any input on what mufflers/cats/headers to use for the exhaust that would be great. I definitely don't want to sacrifice power, but i want a good tone out of it. And passing emissions is not an issue when picking anything.

A good torque converter for the streets would be a 2600-3000 stall. They run around $500. Pretty easy to put in yourself. As far as exhaust, I have done just about any kind of turn down, super truck, all the way back, etc. Any of those will give a great tone to these motors. But you gotta ask urself if you can stand that cab drone while driving on the highway. That cab drone mainly comes from turn downs.
