2000 Dodge Cummins 5.9 5spd 4x4. Yes or No??
Hey guys i am looking at purchasing my first dodge cummins. I just got done looking at a 2000 5.9 5pd short bed quad cab. It looks pretty bad a**. This truck drove great and definitly had a ton of power! He is wanting $9500 for it. I need some help in deciding if you guys think it is worth 9500 he definitley has more than that in it but theirs a few things wrong with it.
Positives: 4x4, Edge prgrammer, 800 miles on tires (35in mud grapplers on 18in wheels), 6in lift, After Market shocks, New Tranny, 161,000 miles, oversized injecters, leather interior, after market sound system, fass fuel pump, air horns, Aftermarket clutch.
Negatives: Ac needs charged (hopefully), Dash has small crack but not a big deal alot of older dodges do, Small dents on tail gate, No rear bumper a guy clipped his back bumper and he took it off so their is a dent under the back left tail light, their is 3 wheel studs broke one wheel and 2 on another, paint has a few cracks in it, its flat black. Some reason third gear is a little tricky, it grinds a little if you dont ease it in all other gears are perfectly fine. Driver and passenger seat both have a rip.
Here is some pics. Love to here your guy's opinion on it! THANKS!

In my opinion i love the cummins, the standard is good but the 5 speed isnt as good as the 6 speed (the motor is a H.O. with the 6) For 9500 its seems like an ok deal, one thing our 2002 dodge diesel 2500 6 speed has is something along the lines of a slave cylinder in the tranny has gone and it has been really hard to shift, maybe thats whats wrong but slave cylinders are under 500, the master cylinder will screw you tho. We have delt with dodge cummins for a few years as me and my dad are car dealers from saskatchewan. We love the cummins' we arent scared of something with near 1000000 kms on it as the motor is really just that good. Also milage is great. We had a 2004 dodge lifted on 39s, huge metal push bar, agressive box rails, and 550+ hp in a standard and we would get near 30 mpgs on a good day average around 27 and towing near 15000 around 18 mpgs. One help is the 39s changes the gear ratio so it revved lower at normal cruising speed 110 kms+/-. If its a newer chip without the module inside it might have a toggle switch witch you can cange the hp boost off the chip, the chip will be on the drivers side around the fender probably. If you like the truck alot spend the 9000 or 9500 but in my opinion i like the 2003 bodystyle better even for the extra 4-5 grand you spend its alot better that those stupid suicide doors and they made quite a few upgrades. The usually pull hard with 35s at between 60-90 mph it will cruise. Also since its only a 2500 you cant legally run a straight pipe unless its a 3500 in most areas. Maybe lmc truck can get parts you need to get her up to factory for rips tear, wear and stuff. Let me tell you that 5.9 is the best motor in the world i trust my life to it if its had proper oil changes and stuff. So the verdict is great truck if it seems clean 9500 is a good price but check the kijiji, craigslist, paper and other classifeids to see what they go in in your area, hope this help and even tho im 13 ive spend alot of time with these trucks and know them inside and out. Good luck with you cummins
