F250 Auto Hesitation
Hello all,
Just bought a 93 250 XLT 5.0 V8 Auto. There seems to be a slight hesitation between 1st and 2nd gear. If I floor it I can feel the hesitation... if I start off slowly then I don't get any. Prior owner said he had the truck for 3 years and it has done the same thing since he bought it without it getting any worse. That's what makes me think the transmission is fine, figure if it's done the same thing for 3 years without the trans getting worse that its got to be something else.
Any clues????
Thanks all,
Wes .... new F250 Owner

Hi, it is alot of miles I know, To my knowledge the trans is original... weird though how it could be doing the same thing and not get progressively worse. Is there a sensor in their that is getting gummed up?
Also is it cheaper now to take it to a transmission place and say rebuilt this or best to wait until it goes to have it rebuilt?
Thanks

Normally when you buy a vehicle it is best to have a mechanic look it over before buying it. Also I wouldn't take the guys word about engine and transmission problems when buying one. Now for a rebuild, that will cost quite a bit. I would take it to a mechanic and let him look over it and explain what the symptoms are before you think about having it rebuilt.
this is a common issue with the e4od trans, the only thing you need is a shift kit which is less then $100, never run a trans slip stop in these trucks because snake oils will just make it worse. My 97 powerstroke does it so bad it misses the shift sometimes but i got alot more power then stock going threw it. Brians truck shop makes the best rebuild transmissions and he warenties them for 1 year no matter what power you make
the diesel version is $4300 but that includes a 3 disc billet converter and all fluids for a bullet proof combo
