Default 96 Grand Am

Hi again all! I realize this may be a bit off subject, but there seems to be alot of GM knowledge here. Here goes, 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE with 3.1L.-----My guages will not work( tach, speedometer, temperature, fuel level.) Almost every warning light stays on after motor is started(low fuel, low coolant, high temperature, ABS brake light, parking brake light, etc.) Only seat belt light and oil pressure light will go off when started or buckled. I did notice a short while ago that the ignition switch was giving me problems: for example could not turn key all the way to the off position after turning off motor. It does act as if the ignition is still in the "start" position after the motor is started and the key is put back in the "run" position. Could this ignition switch be the cause? What Else? Thanks again and God Bless, Brad

My sister's cavy does something similar. I don't think she's having an issue with the ignition switch and none of the dash lights stay on like that, but all of her gauges just don't work most of the time. They'll either just never come up or they'll be maxed out to the point of being stock on eachother. Called the dealer up and they said she would have to replaced the instrument cluster. Maybe that's all that's wrong with yours. Could be the gauges and the lights are two different problems on that Grandam but I really don't know. Best way thing to do would be to call the dealer and see if they can give you any advice.

Ignition switch is a good possibility...try seeing if the cluster fuse gets hot with the key
