Hey all...

I bought a pair of Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers from Ebay last night. I decided to get these babies after hearing a few sound clips off of YouTube. They have a very aggressive tone when taking off, and have a nice thump during the idle. I drive an old 89 5.7L Silverado, and it has been a great truck. It has always been very quite, though. I have no cats, and it still barely thumps during idle. I have had two Flows with turn downs in the past...Not loud at all. I run 2.25 in. pipe. I have no choice to change that now...The mufflers I bought are for that size pipe. But should I turn these down like I did my Flows? Any tips on when to drop these mufflers? I love the sound of these on other V8's, but I am afraid I will end up spending more money I shouldnt if I dont like the sound. Any help is appreciated. ZT.

 

i like the sound of turndowns. thats how mines down at the moment, headers to cats to 2 flows turned down before the axle has a real good sound to it.

 

Man stopspazinout idrove like an hour and a half south of your house on highway 44 last sunday and this past friday. I did not know you lived in mo until i just looked.

 

Thanks, man. I recently put some longtube Flowtechs on my truck. I didn't have them when I had the flows on. Hopefully, it will spice the sound up a little. Does your 89 seem to sound quiter than other models? Also, somebody told me that it sounds good to not have any turn downs at all...just have no piping at the end of the muffler. Any comments?
